Kayaking is a Water Activity / Sport. Water Safety – AT ALL TIMES…… LIFE JACKET or P.F.D. MUST BE WORN. CHILDREN MUST BE UNDER SUPERVISION. Do not use in Bad Weather. Avoid rough seas, rocky areas and fast flowing waters. Stay clear of swimmers. Skills Learn Kayak skills - attend KOP - Kayaking Orientation Programme and more. Practice the basic capsize drills - stay calm and learn to exit the kayak while underwater. More advance skills would make Kayaking safer and more enjoyable. Good Practice Always let somebody on land know where you are going and when you are coming back. Decision Turn back or seek safe shelter when the weather begins to turn bad. Stay calm. Ability Do not over-estimate own strength and capabilities. Do not under-estimate the distance. Compliance & Knowledge Be a Responsible Kayaker. Know and stay clear of all restricted and prohibited areas. Stay clear of dams, barrages and water works and other operations. Know and understand their dangers. Proceed to beach at the nearest safe shore or safely exit the waters once the siren is sounded. Stay clear and Exit at once when unsure. Know and Understand the Quality of Water. Its dangers and effects on you. Understand how your own body reactions to different Waters. Do not litter into the water. Do not harm or damage the environment. Launch and exit at safe sites. |
